Join us for a wintertime outdoor outing at the Bear’s Den in Bluemont, Virginia! The Bear’s Den is adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, with scenic mountain hikes on site. We’ll have dinner for all inside our indoor lodge, and an outdoor campfire with s’mores. Webelos (4th grade) and AOLs (5th grade) are able to stay overnight in the lodge with an adult caregiver. All other cubs are welcome to join for the hike, outdoor activities, and dinner/ s’mores from 1 pm until 8:30pm. Families with cubs in grades K-3 also have the option to tent camp overnight on the grounds outside the lodge.

WHO: The whole family is welcome for the daytime activities from 1pm to 8:30pm, including cub scouts and siblings. A parent/guardian must accompany and be responsible for their own child(ren). Due to limited space, the overnight lodge is open to Webelos and AOLs only. Cubs in the younger dens are welcome to stay only for the daytime activities or to tent camp with their families on the grounds outside the lodge for no additional charge.
Cost:
Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bear cubs and parents: $5/ per person (includes activities and dinner); 5 and under are free.
Webelos/ AOLS cubs and parents: $25 per person (includes activities, overnight in the lodge, dinner and breakfast). Please purchase one ticket per person corresponding to each person’s gender so we can plan lodging arrangements.
Medical Forms must be in hand or emailed in advance to scottau@hotmail.com. BSA medical form A & B one form for each person attending (adult and child).
WHEN: Saturday, January 25th from 1pm-8:30pm; Parking is available on site.
Overnight cubs and their adults must check-out by 11am on Sunday, January 26th.
Events: Arrival is between 1:00 and 2:00 pm on Saturday, but you can come later if needed. This is a fun and informal family outing. General schedule:
2-3 pm Check-in and activities
3-4 pm Hiking
4-5:30 pm Activities and dinner prep
5:30 pm Dinner (pack provided)
6:30 pm Campfire Program with S’mores
8:30 pm Program Concludes for Lions, Tigers, Wolves and Bears
9 pm Quiet hours for Webelos/ AOLs staying overnight
Meals and S’mores:
Dinner at 5:30 pm. Campfire and s’mores thereafter.
The Pack will have an exciting campfire program. S’mores will be available at the closing. Please help to monitor your child(ren) around the campfire to ensure everyone is being safe around the fire.
What To Bring:
– Mess kit for your family, including any plate/bowl/cup/utensils;
– Dress for the weather: Wear layered clothing (activity shirts), hats, gloves;
– Camp chairs for sitting around the campfire, one for each family member.
– Children are not permitted to have electronic devices (e.g., tablets).
